Surplus
A rudimentary experiment in aleatory visual semantics that, unintentionally, set a precedent for NFTs and the production methodologies later adopted, explored, and exploited by the Non-Fungible Community.
Surplus is an online artwork generator that sources images from two distinct folders that are automatically synced online from my computer —one folder containing screenshots of works in progress, the other holding ra collection of images collected from browsing the internet. Using simple coding techniques, these images are randomly combined on-screen, generating a unique composition each time the page is reloaded.
Editions
A first edition of 4 framed selected compositions was produced in 2012 by Lysistrata Studios SCL. A second Edition of 2 was produced by the artist in 2016.
